During our 2010 June tour our team worked alongside our Tanzanian peer-counterparts and extended community partners -- in a series of train-the-trainer style "Women's Empowerment" workshops -- to address some of the most pressing issues faced by women in rural Tanzania, including maternal & infant health; education; vocational training & microfinance and business development; HIV/AIDS education; leadership training; and more.
During our time in-country we visited with schools, women’s groups, and medical clinics in the Northern District of Tanzania – including both the Kilimanjaro region and the Arusha/Monduli region. [See Partners]
Working with various tribes people, including the traditional Maasai, our UNITE traveling team shared of our time and talent, and we listened and learned. This tour was not only about the sharing of necessary resources and expertise, but also about standing together as ONE and celebrating our common humanity.
